What do you mean by ‘absolute reason’?? In the Horkheimer essay.

Absolute reason refers to the pre-industrial/ pre-enlightenment form of reason based on ideology, i.e. religion. The Enlightenment served to dispel mythology to an extent, as rationality shifted to serve man’s domination over nature, that is, instrumental rationality.
